Vitamin K

Vitamins, minerals & anti-oxidants

Description

Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin, so your body stores it in fat tissue and the liver. It is best known for its role in helping blood clot, or coagulate, properly.

Mechanism of action

It is necessary for final stage of synthesis of coagulation factors: II, VII, IX and X in liver. In synthesis of coagulant proteins Vitamin K is converted to an epoxide which is subsequently reduced to active Vitamin K
