Ticlopidine is an inhibitor of platelet aggregation that is used to decrease the risk of stroke in patients known to have atherosclerosis.
Causes dose dependent inhibition of adenosine disphosphate mediated platelet aggregation and release of platelet granule constituents and prolongation of bleeding time. It also inhibits platelet aggregation due to collagen, adrenaline and platelet activating factor.
