Mechanism of action
It acts by forming a complex with plasminogen that binds loosely to fibrin and it converts plasminogen to plasmin. It has no intrinsic activity.

This medicine may also be used to treat blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) and in the legs (deep venous thrombosis)
