Propranolol belongs to a group of medicines called beta blockers. It's used to treat heart problems, help with some of the symptoms of anxiety and prevent migraines.
It selectively and competitively antagonises the action of Catecholamines mediated through adrenergic receptors. It decreases heart rate, force of cardiac contraction. During long-term therapy, the blood pressure falls in patients of hypertension. The renin secretion is inhibited.
