Phytomenadione, also known as vitamin K1 or phylloquinone, is a vitamin found in food and used as a dietary supplement.
It is necessary for final stage of synthesis of coagulation factors: II, VII, IX and X in liver. In synthesis of coagulant proteins Vitamin K is converted to an epoxide which is subsequently reduced to active Vitamin K.
