Pegfilgrastim-unne

Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog

Description

Long-acting pegylated G-CSF used to decrease incidence of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. Stimulates proliferation and differentiation of neutrophils to restore bone marrow function.

Mechanism of action

Binds to G-CSF receptor on hematopoietic cells, stimulating neutrophil production, maturation, and release from bone marrow. Pegylation extends half-life allowing single dose per chemotherapy cycle (approximately 14 days).
