Oxyphenbutazone

NSAIDs

Description

Oxyphenbutazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) no longer commonly used for the symptomatic relief of musculoskeletal pain.

Mechanism of action

Oxyphenbutazone exert their action by inhibiting the biosynthesis and release of prostaglandins. These drugs inhibit cyclooxygenase enzyme and hence prostaglandin synthesis. These compounds generally do not inhibit formation of leukotrienes which also contribute to inflammation.
