Mechanism of action
It is an oral amino glycoside with poor GI absorption so it is used for suppressing the GI bacterial flora.
Neomycin belongs to the aminoglycosides group of antibiotics, which functions by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, resulting in a bactericidal effect primarily against gram-negative bacteria. When administered orally, neomycin exhibits limited absorption into the systemic circulation.
