Natamycin (Eye Prep.)

Anti infective (Eye)

Description

Natamycin belongs to the group of medicines called antifungals. It is used to treat some types of fungus infections of the eye

Mechanism of action

Nabumetone selectively inhibits prostaglandin synthetase-2(PGHS-2). This isoenzyme is responsible for prostaglandin synthesis and thus inflammation in the tissue of such areas as diarthroidal joints. It is metabolised into 6-methoxy-2 naphthyl-acetic acid that is a potent inhibitor of PGHS-2. It has no inhibitory effect on PHGS-1 which is responsible for prostaglandin synthesis in gastric mucosa, thereby minimizing the risk of problems like ulcers and hypertension.
