Indomethacin exerts their action by inhibiting the biosynthesis and releae of prostaglandins. These drugs inhibit cyclooxygenase enzyme and hence prostaglandin synthesis. These compounds generally do not inhibit formation of leukotrienes which also contribute to inflammation.
