Mechanism of action

Gugulipid works by inhibiting lipogenic enzymes and HMG-CoA reductase in the liver. It is also thought to stimulate lipolytic enzymes, enhance fecal excretion of sterols, and act as a bile acid sequestrant. Gugulipid has been shown to stimulate thyroid function in rats.
