Gonadotrophin F.S.H

Hormones & fertility agents

Description

FSH is made by the pituitary gland in response to gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus. It plays an important role in sexual development and functioning. In women, FSH helps control the menstrual cycle and stimulates the growth of eggs in the ovaries

Mechanism of action

In the ovary, FSH regulates folliculogenesis, oocyte selection, and the synthesis of sex steroid hormones, thus preparing the reproductive tract for fertilization, implantation, and pregnancy. In the male, this gonadotropin mediates testicular development and spermatogenesis
