Glibenclamide is an adopted name for glyburide, a member of the sulfonylurea class of drugs, which are clinically used as an oral hypoglycemic agent for the treatment of diabetes

Mechanism of action

These drug stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, induce increased activity of peripheral insulin intracellular receptors, may act to reduce glucagon secretion.
