Cephaloridine

Description

It is a fist generation semisynthetic derivative of antibiotc cephalosprin C, and is a Beta lactam antibiotic.

Mechanism of action

Cephaloridine acts by inhibiting bacterial cell
wall synthesis and is bactericidal. Also the autolytic enzymes in cell wall
may be activated leading to bacterial death. Cephaloridine after
administration are widely distributed throughout body fluids. Cephaloridine
is primarily excreted by the kidneys and dosage should be altered in
patients of renal disease. It is important to note that patients who have
shown immediate type hypersensitivity reaction to Penicillin should receive
cephaloridine with great caution.
