It is a COX-2 inhibitor and NSAID drug used o treat Osteoarthritis,Acute pain,menstrual symptoms and to reduce adenomatous polyposis.
It exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities which are believed to be due to inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). At therapeutic concentrations in humans, celecoxib does not inhibit COX 1 enzyme.
