Cefaclor

Description

Belonging to the class of cephalosporin.

Mechanism of action

Cefaclor acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis and is bactericidal. Also the autolytic enzymes in cell wall may be activated leading to bacterial death. Cefaclor after administration are widely distributed throughout body fluids. Cefaclor is primarily excreted by the kidneys and dosage should be altered in patients of renal disease. It is important to note that patients who have shown immediate type hypersensitivity reaction to Penicillin should receive Cefaclor with great caution.
