Mechanism of action

It competitively blocks beta 1, beta 2 and alpha 1 adrenoreceptors. It lacks sympathomimetic activity and has vasodilating properties which are exerted mainly through beta 1 blockade. It reduces both systolic and diastolic blood pressure without reflex tachycardia.
