Mechanism of action
Inhibition of prostaglandin and leucotriene synthesis. The actions of Betamethasone are:
- increased gluconeogenesis.
- increased lipolysis
- increased liver stores of glycogen
- CNS effects, euphoria
- increased haemoglobin synthesis
- Restrict capillary permeability and maintenance of cardiovascular function
- cause normal skeletal muscular function
- antiinflammatory action
- suppression of immune response
- stabilize lysosomal membranes
- antiallergic action.
