A type 3 pyridine phosphodiesterase inhibitor.
It is a relatively selective inhibitor of cyclic GMP, cyclic AMP-PDE (Type III) family: causes vasodilation with a consequent systemic vascular resistance. It increases both the force of contraction and velocity of relaxation in cardiac muscle.
