A tricyclic antidepressant
Replace with – The TCAs and related drugs inhibit active uptake of biogenic amines NA and 5-HT into their respective neurons and thus potentiate them. Uptake inhibition results in increased concentration of the amines in the synaptic cleft in the CNS and periphery, which is associated with antidepressant action. The effect is between after 3-4 weeks of drug intake.
