Heartburn

  • Heartburn is common towards the end of the pregnancy as the growing uterus exerts mechanical pressure on the stomach and the gastroesophageal sphincter relaxes.
  • Often all that is needed is an intake of non-irritant foods during small but frequent meals.
  • In severe cases antacids, sucralfate or H2-receptor antagonists can be prescribed for a short time.
