Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve the symptoms of arthritis (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis), such as inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain.
Meloxicam exert their action by inhibiting the biosynthesis and release of prostaglandins.These drugs inhibit cyclooxygenase enzyme and hence prostaglandin synthesis.These compounds generally do not inhibit formation of leukotrienes which also contribute to inflammation.
