Description

Mosapride is a prokinetic 5-HT4 receptor agonist used to stimulate gastric motility. Mosapride is under investigation for the treatment and prevention of Postoperative Ileus and Gastric Peroral Endoscopic Pyloromyotom

Mechanism of action

Mosapride stimulates the 5HT4 receptors in the presynaptic nerve ending in the mesenteric plexus promoting the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction. Strengthening tone and contractions of the gut wall, in particular the tone of the lower oesophageal sphincter.
