Levobunolol

Anti glaucoma drugs

Description

Ophthalmic levobunolol is used to treat glaucoma, a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision. Levobunolol is in a class of medications called beta blockers. It works by decreasing the pressure in the eye.

Mechanism of action

Levobunolol is a potent, non selective betablocker without intrinsic sympathomimetic or membrane stabilising activity. It causes a dose related decrease in intraocular pressure in normal as well in open angle glaucoma, respectively.
