Human Anti-D Immunoglobulin

Immunoglobulins

Description

Anti D Rho 300mcg Injection is an immunoglobulin (also known as antibody). It helps in preventing antibodies from forming after a person with Rh-negative blood receives a transfusion with Rh-positive blood. It also helps during pregnancy when a mother has Rh-negative blood and the baby is Rh-positive.

Mechanism of action

The mechanism of action of anti-D is not fully understood; however, after administration the anti-D coated red blood cell complexes saturate Fcγ receptors sites on macrophages, resulting in preferential destruction of red blood cells (RBCs), therefore sparing antibody-coated platelets.
