A first generation carbonic anhydrase inhibitor

Mechanism of action

In eye, reversible inhibition of carbonic anhydrase results
in decrease in formation of aqueous humour and decreased hyrdrogen ion secretion at the renal tubule with increased renal excretion on Na, K, Bicarbonate and water.
