Mechanism of action
Exact mechanism is unknown. Possibly exerts its action by inhibiting the synthesis of mycolic acid which is an essential component of mycobacterial cell wall.
Isoniazid (INH) is used for treatment of tuberculosis (as part of combination therapy) or for latent tuberculosis infection (as monotherapy or part of combination therapy). Less frequently, INH may be used as part of a combination regimen for nontuberculous mycobacterial infections.
